The South African Bus Operators’ Association (SABOA) was formed to represent the interest of the industry at government level as well as among its stakeholders. SABOA was established on 21 March 2025 by five leading South African bus companies with a view to:
Promote and protect the common interests of its members.
Collect, record, disseminate and publish information and know-how regarding the industry that may be of use and or interest to its members.
Present the views of its members on matters such as legislation and policy.
Advance the status of the road passenger transport industry.
At the time of its inception SABOA represented about 6,500 buses. Membership grew steadily over the years and in 1994 SABOA represented approximately 70 per cent of the buses used for public transport.
Scania South Africa had their stand present at this annual event, we used this to mention for the first time that Scania South Africa will be upgrading to a new and improved engine platform. Although still the same modular system that has made us successful over the last couple of years, the small changes being made is just an improvement on a very successful platform as it stands. More details to follow on the upgraded engine platform.
