Described as “vague”, “unclear” and “unenforceable”, the recently implemented Consignor/Consignee legislation has created uncertainty and confusion in the road freight industry.
The recently amended National Road Traffic Regulations Act now require that those transporting goods be in possession of a written declaration containing the nature of the goods transported, the particulars of every consignor and consignee and compulsory insurance on the goods.
Norton Rose Fulbright associate, Peter Lamb, told a business breakfast recently that the new regulations “will affect the smooth running of logistics and supply chain processes.”
